Why use acoustic foam?

Why use acoustic foam.jpg

The objective for acoustic foam products is to improve the overall sound in a room, not reduce it. Whilst our products can act as sound proofing, they are not limited to that function. Most ‘normal’ rooms with flat hard parallel walls are sub optimal for creating a pleasing soundscape. Hard surfaces reflect sound easily and create high and low energy nodes where sound waves cross and interact. Rather than you hearing the sound once as it is emitted from your speakers, you might be hearing its again as an echo or hearing its affect on subsequent sound waves.

The below link explains the physics behind what is happening and uses some very clear GIFs to visualise the effect that converging waves can have.

Wave Superposition Explanation

By using acoustic foam wall tiles and or bass traps you can reduce the energy in the reflected sound waves, so that they have less volume as an echo, and less effect on the primary waves as they reach your ears resulting in a cleaner listening experience.

All of our products are carbon neutral. We have minimised production waste and use a UK based carbon offsetting scheme to offset the remainder. Furthermore all of our products can be returned to us for recycling if you no longer require them*.

*Foam can only be recycled if it is returned to us clean.
